WHAT IS A MOTHER BLESSING?
​Inspired by an ancient Navajo ceremony called a blessing way. The ceremony is held to prepare an expectant mother for her upcoming birth journey—to shower muma-to-be with love, support and encouragement.
In our western culture we have forgotten how important ritual and ceremony is in our lives. It helps us mark and honour important phases and rites of passages. Having a baby and preparing for motherhood is a big rite of passage which can be supported and celebrated with a Mother Blessing.
You may have come across the more known baby shower which celebrates the unborn baby with gifts. Unfortunately these showers can forget the mother who is at the heart of it all!
A Mother Blessing re-addresses this balance and gives the mother time and space to honour her journey with close and loving female friends and family.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
​As a doula I am passionate about guiding and supporting women to be empowered by their pregnancy and birthing day. I believe that every women can feel good about their pregnancy and birth through mental and physical preparation.
After having a mother blessing when carrying my son, I felt drawn to creating and holding this sacred time for other women. It is a special and vulnerable time in an expectant mother's journey which can be supported with a mother blessing ceremony. It can help a mother connect with her baby and body and let go of any fears she may have. It is a time for celebration with friends and loved ones.
